What is a Blog?
- Blog (short for web log) it provides commentary or news on a particular subject such as food, politics, or local news; some function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic.
What is CGI?
- Common Gateway Interface (CGI) a set of rules that describes how a CGI program (script) communicates with a web server.
- For example: for bulletin boards, chat, create guest books, counters etc.
What is CGI-BIN?
- The folder (or directory) on a web server that stores CGI programs.
What is Domain Name and Private Registration?
- Domain name is your web site dot com. Example: www.yourwebsite.com
- Private Registration protects your contact information, prevents email from spammers and calls from telemarketers. You will have peace of mind.
What is eCommerce web site?
- Electronic Commerce is a marketplace on the Internet.
What is E-mail Address?
- The address used for sending e-mails to a person or an organization. Typical format is username@hostname.
What is Firewall?
- Software that acts as a security filter that can restrict types of network communication. Most often used between an individual computer (or a LAN) and the Internet.
What is Flash?
- A vector-based multimedia format developed by Macromedia for use on the web.
What is GB?
- Same as Gigabyte. 10GB is ten gigabytes.
What is Gigabyte?
- Gigabyte is approximately 1,000 Megabytes. A Gigabyte is a very common term used these days when referring to disk space or drive storage.
What is a Image Map?
- Graphic image that contains hotspots (areas that link to pages on your site or are otherwise interactive)
What is Internet Browser?
- A software program that translates Internet transmissions into useful information.
What is a Logo?
- Is a distinctive trademark or symbol of a company .
What is Navigation?
- In web terms: The same as Browse.
What do you mean by Monitoring Placement in Search Engines?
- Computer program used to search and catalog (index) the millions of pages of available information on the web. Common search engines are Google and Yahoo
What is a PDF (Portable Document Format)?
- A document file format developed by Adobe. Most often used for text documents.
What are RSS FEEDS?
- It's an easy and effective way of delivering news items and summaries to your users and clients.
What is a SEO (Search Engine Optimizations)?
- SEO involves changes to your web site so that you show up near the top of the listings when customers search for your products or services.
What is the Search Engines?
- Computer program used to search and catalog (index) the millions of pages of available information on the web. Common search engines are Google and Yahoo.
What is SPAM?
- In web terms: The action of sending multiple unwelcome messages to a newsgroup or mailing list.
What is Spidering?
- A computer program that searches the Internet for web pages. Common web spiders are used by search engines like, Google and AltaVista to index the web. Web spiders are also called web robots or wanderers or web crawlers.
What is SSL (Secure Socket Layer)?
- Software to secure and protect web site communication using encrypted transmission of data.
What is Templates?
- Page templates, a pre-developed page layout used to creater new pages (paper or electronic) from the same design, patern, or style.
What is Web Content Writing?
- Specialized text designed to help the visitors read content fast, easy and understandable.
What is Web Hosting?
- A web server that "hosts" web services like providing web site space to companies or individuals.
What is Web Pages?
- A document (normally an HTML file) designed to be distributed over the Web.
What is Web Maintenance?
- Web designer maintains the web site up-to-date with content, graphics, products and services.
